WIMBLEDON got underway in London- amid blazing summer sun and controversial fashion choices.
Number three seed Maria Sharapova has upset the traditionalists by announcing that she will play in shorts, rather than the traditional tennis skirt, at this year's championships. Nike has designed a unique outfit for the star, which pays homage to London's "history in bespoke tailoring".

"I'm changing it up this year," Sharapova confirms. "I've never worn shorts at a Grand Slam. I'm going to be debuting that. Call it menswear. It's kind of like a tuxedo look, very simple lines, classic."
Maria always looks good on the courts, but unfortunately this outfit didn't help with her game at Wimbledon.
